The End of Entertaining Nonsense

For those of a certain age, getting stoned and solving the problems of the world in a college dorm room was a rite of passage. Fortunately, most of us have advanced past thinking that is centered on a T-shirt slogan approach to life. However, the Unholy Trinity—academia, legacy linear media, and the world of entertainment—seems to be caught up in a time warp where simplistic and ridiculous opinions are celebrated and advanced. The rest of us need to cease engaging in discussions where their assumptions and assertions are allowed to be the starting point for the conversation. It is time to stop treating their nonsense seriously.

The Voter ID Reality Check

Currently, we are being told that requiring a photo ID and proof of citizenship to vote is somehow a horrible thing, and that it will especially prevent women and minorities from participating. Please. Never mind the multiple events held to protest the voter ID requirement to vote, which required a photo ID to enter said events. You cannot make up some of this stuff. Given the number of instances a photo ID is required in our lives, would you not think that if this were some sort of onerous demand, we would know by now? Rather than pretend there is an iota of evidence or credible data indicating the requirement is not reasonable, we need to scream out loud that the reason someone opposes this requirement is that they want it to be easier for them to cheat. What other reason could there be?

May Day and Misplaced Allegiance

All around the country, a variety of protests were held on May 1. For years, the Soviets (before the USSR crumbled) held May Day parades where their military proudly rolled the tanks down the streets of Moscow. When one-third of 18-27-year-olds hold a favorable view of communism, it should be no surprise that progressives selected the day for their events. The proper response? Call them out for demonstrably indicating their kinship with a tyrannical form of government responsible for the deaths of at least 60 million and perhaps as many as 100 million, depending on how it is calculated. That anyone would have a favorable view of communism is nothing short of obscene and deserves to be treated as such. No equivocating or caving to the sophisticated class that is so ashamed of America. Are you triggered by July 4? Well, treating communism as anything other than horrific triggers the heck out of me.

The Cost of “Free”

Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected mayor of New York City, has suddenly had his “free stuff for everyone” plan (buses, child care, etc.) hit a wall. Turns out socialism might not be so easy to put into place after all.

Upon taking office, he increased the budget by a total of 12 billion dollars over the next two years. The total for 2027 will be 127 billion dollars. That is an amount larger than the operating budget for every state other than New York and California. For 2026, this includes a deficit of six billion dollars. The Mayor has hit upon a solution. He wants the State of New York to bail out NYC.

For starters, let’s stop describing government services and dollars as being “free.” The truth is, we should yell out, “paid for with other people’s money.” There is a cost to any and all of this. Letting these socialists continue to brag about all they are providing for free is stupid. The late British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, said it best. “The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.” Perhaps it is time to tell the two-thirds of 18-27 year olds who have a favorable view of socialism that they need to stop thinking like a stoned freshman in the dorm. Maybe the rest of New York State should tell Mamdani to pound sand. Once more, the mistake to avoid is accepting the premise of their argument. Do not do it.

Biology Isn’t Optional

Allowing progressives to argue that biological sex is simply what you are assigned at birth is more insanity. Your biological gender is not some philosophical concept. It is a physical reality. We can be civil towards those who choose to identify as something else without bowing in agreement to their starting point. Identify however you choose. That does not mean gender affirming medical procedures should be performed on minors, much less without the consent of their parents. It does not mean that if you have a penis, you get to go into the private spaces reserved for biological women. It does not mean you get to compete against biological females in athletic events. There’s a reason we have the women’s tees.

Drawing the Line

An entire book could easily be written on the multitude of nonsense we are being told to treat earnestly. Not any longer.

Remember this: It is okay to tell someone they are being ridiculous, and that we are not going to pretend anything else. A photo ID is not a heavy lift. Siding with communists is unacceptable. Nothing is free, and you have no right to demand we borrow money to pay for your nonsense. Boys are boys and girls are girls, no matter how they identify. In other words, you are full of crap, and I will treat you accordingly.
