Instead of taking people such as John Roberts, formerly of 60 Minutes, or any of the vapid ladies on The View, too very seriously, perhaps we could start to spend less time worrying about storytelling, feelings, and style points and a tad more focus and energy on items that actually might have something to do with the future of the country.
The thought is pretty simple. Can we worry about important things and start to get some straight answers? In no particular order, here are five questions for your consideration. What is important is that thoughtful and reasonable Americans put a stop to elitists behaving as though it is a sign of ignorance at worst and poor taste at best to even ask about these matters.
What Happened to Education?
Number one: How long can America continue to prosper with a public education system producing less proficient students every year? Stanford (not exactly Hillbilly State) professors, along with a host of other academics, are highlighting the reality that entering freshmen cannot read. Maybe tell the teachers’ union and the Federal Department of Education that it’s past time to start doing things another way. Perhaps a little less time on social justice, demonizing America, and inserting race into recess and a tad more on reading, writing, and arithmetic would be in order.
The Media’s Credibility Problem
Number two: Does the corporate, legacy, linear media not grasp that they have become little more than an echo chamber for the progressive agenda, their policies, and overall thinking on every item under the sun? It is ridiculous to even have to pretend this legacy media is one iota different from what is described. Please show me the unified willingness to admit a truth as simple as that they lied about the cognitive abilities of Joe Biden and lied as a matter of progressive partisanship. If they cannot even admit it, then they sure as hell are not going to apologize. Again, do not take their bait. The next time you are asked to be drawn into some elaborate conversation on the topic, just be short and sweet. “You guys behaved like partisan hacks and got caught. Forget the arrogance. Forget even being complete liars for a second. Instead, let’s all just step back and look at you in disgust until you can bring yourself to acknowledge the truth and apologize for it.”
A Reasonable Distrust of Experts
Number three: Why should we not be skeptical of what the “experts” and government have to tell us on public health, the environment, energy, or 20 other subjects? After all, it is beyond argument that predictions have fallen flat, restrictions were imposed in the name of pretend science, and facts were tortured to further what is entirely a political agenda, one that has little to nothing to do with actually solving problems. Once more, just like with the above, will you please come clean?
The Arrogance of Reversals
Number four: Why should people not be asked to explain complete reversals in positions on various topics? Bill Clinton bragged about his record on border security, emphasizing its importance. Now, being tough at the border is a sign of hatred. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both assured voters in 2008 that marriage was limited to the union between one man and one woman. Less than a decade later, both would say that the position is hateful. In 1995, Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid introduced legislation to put an end to birthright citizenship. Once more, today, that is hatred. What aggravates is how in every situation, the position of the progressive is taken with arrogant, smug, self-assurance that is coupled with condescending impatience. Totally reversing oneself requires no humility among these folks to remain a progressive in good standing.
The First Question on Israel
Number five: How can peace be achieved in the Middle East unless and until Muslim states agree to the principle that Israel has a right to exist? Twisting logic and reason are not acceptable substitutes for honest talk. Either we start with an agreement on this, or there is no hope for an end to hostilities. Do not allow ourselves to get distracted by secondary topics and issues. If someone cannot bring themselves to support the right of Israel to exist, we should understand there is a gap that will not be erased by academic niceties.
Reality Over Progressive Blather
We are just getting started with posing simple, but important questions that progressives want to ignore or even criticize for being asked in the first place. Maybe next time, we will start by asking why expressing sympathy for the loss of life at the hands of illegal immigrants somehow encourages hatred.
For something to be an “inconvenient truth,” it has to be true in the first place (hello, Al Gore). Pretending what one desires to be true is, in fact, true (despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary) might be good for intellectual preening. That’s about all that can be said for it. Add ignoring what contradicts your viewpoint, and you have the perfect modern-day American progressive.
Common Sense: The time has come to insist that we start to pay attention to actual reality, not the fiction being advanced by the Unholy Trinity of progressives—academia, legacy, linear corporate media, and the world of entertainment. We deserve and should demand honest answers, not accept progressive blather.
