Voters Still Back Trump’s Call to “Drain the Swamp,” Rasmussen Finds

Support for Donald Trump’s call to “drain the swamp” in Washington, D.C. remains strong, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey. Nearly two-thirds of likely U.S. voters (62%) agree it’s time to reduce bureaucracy in the nation’s capital, with 46% strongly agreeing. While overall support has barely shifted since March, voters are divided on Trump’s performance so far—45% say he has been successful in curbing bureaucracy, while 48% disagree.
The poll highlights partisan divides: 79% of Republicans at least somewhat agree with Trump’s statement, compared to 50% of Democrats and 57% of unaffiliated voters. Views on his success also split sharply—74% of Republicans say he’s been successful, while just 26% of Democrats and 38% of independents agree. Demographics reveal similar divides, with older voters more likely to strongly back Trump’s call, while younger voters are less convinced of his success.
The survey of 1,151 likely voters was conducted August 14 and 17–18, 2025, with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
