Trump Wins Majority Praise for Securing America’s Border

Most voters say President Donald Trump is delivering on one of his central promises: border security. A new Rasmussen Reports survey finds that 53% of likely U.S. voters rate Trump’s handling of securing the border and preventing illegal immigration as good or excellent, up sharply from 45% in July. Just 31% give him poor marks. Opinions split along party lines—81% of Republicans approve compared with 29% of Democrats—but independents are nearly evenly divided. The poll also highlights divisions over legal immigration, with voters almost evenly split on whether levels should rise, fall, or stay the same. Conducted August 27–28 and 31 among 1,117 likely voters, the survey carries a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
