A Community Comes Together
Holy Family Parish set out with a goal: collect 144 cards to ensure every senior resident at local care facilities would receive a thoughtful message for Easter. What happened next far exceeded expectations.
With support from parishioners and the broader communityโincluding the Little Falls Library, Girl Scouts, and local partnersโthe parish collected an incredible 388 cards, more than doubling their original goal.
Reaching Those Who Need It Most
The cards were delivered to residents at Rockton Plaza and Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where even a small gesture can carry deep meaning. For many seniors, holidays can be a difficult reminder of loved ones no longer present.
Parish trustee Rick Hartman reflected on that reality, noting that loneliness can be especially heavy during times meant for celebration. The cards serve as a reminder that someone is thinking of themโthat they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.
More Than Just Paper and Ink
What makes this effort so impactful isnโt just the number of cardsโitโs the intention behind them. Each handwritten note or carefully chosen message becomes a moment of connection, a spark of joy, and a reminder of love.
This wasnโt the parishโs first effort. After collecting more than 500 cards for Valentineโs Day, the overwhelming response inspired them to continue the tradition into the spring season.
A Simple Reminder That Matters
In a world that often moves quickly, this project is a powerful reminder that small acts of kindness still matter. A card may seem simpleโbut to someone who needs it, it can mean everything.
Because sometimes, the most meaningful message is also the simplest: you are not alone.
