The singer-songwriter has officially released her first single, “Matches,” offering listeners a glimpse into her creative beginnings and the moment that helped shape her as an artist.
A Passion Years in the Making
Taylor’s journey with music began early. She started singing at the age of 10 and quickly found herself drawn not just to performing—but to creating.
By 12, she was already writing her own songs, using music as a way to express emotions and tell stories in her own voice.
Now studying Music Education at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania, Taylor continues to refine her skills while staying grounded in the passion that first sparked her love for music.
But it’s the story behind her debut that makes it stand out.
A Song Born in a Moment of Inspiration
“Matches” wasn’t written recently—it was created during one of the most uncertain times in recent memory.
During the summer of COVID, Taylor found herself struck by a wave of inspiration after watching the music video for “Mulholland Drive” by Aria.
“I watched the music video, called my best friend, made her watch it with me, sat down on the piano and wrote this song in an hour and a half,” Taylor shared. “I was just so inspired.”
That spark turned into something lasting.
Written when she was just 14, “Matches” became the first song she composed on piano—and the first one she felt ready to share with the world.
At its core, the song explores the rise and fall of a relationship, capturing the realization that people aren’t always who they seem to be. It’s a theme that resonates universally, but Taylor’s perspective brings a raw, youthful honesty that feels genuine and unfiltered.
More Than a Singer
What makes Taylor stand out early isn’t just her voice—it’s her versatility.
She plays a range of instruments, with piano, guitar, and ukulele among those she’s most comfortable with, and she writes her own music—giving her a strong foundation as a true artist rather than just a performer.
With the support of family, friends, and collaborators, including recording sessions at Black Sheep Studios in Gardiner, New York, she has already recorded multiple songs professionally.
And she’s just getting started.
What Comes Next
Following the release of “Matches,” Taylor is already preparing to share more of her work with the world.
Two additional songs—“Boy at the Beach” and “Glimmer and Gold”—are set to be released over the coming months, each expected to build on the storytelling and sound she’s beginning to establish.
For a young artist, releasing that first song is often the biggest step. It’s the moment where something private becomes public—where creativity meets audience.
Taylor Mieszkuc has officially crossed that line.
