700 Animals, One Mission: New Jersey Sanctuary’s Spring Festival Fuels Rescue and Renewal

In a quiet corner of Atlantic County, hundreds of people came together for a cause that’s equal parts compassion and commitment.

At Funny Farm Rescue & Sanctuary, the annual Spring Festival isn’t just a seasonal celebration—it’s a lifeline for more than 700 animals who call the sanctuary home.

A Festival with a Purpose

The event drew crowds from across the region, all eager to support the nonprofit’s mission of rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need.

From hayrides to local vendors, every dollar raised goes directly back to caring for the animals—covering food, medical care, and daily operations.

Organizers estimated the festival would raise around $30,000, making it the sanctuary’s largest fundraiser of the year.

More Than a Sanctuary

Founded by Laurie Zaleski, Funny Farm Rescue has become a haven for animals that often come from difficult or traumatic circumstances.

For many visitors, the most powerful part of the experience isn’t the festival—it’s the transformation.

“To see an animal that comes in and is so broken, and for them to love again and to trust people again, it’s wonderful,” Zaleski said to 6ABC Action News Philadelphia.

It’s a reminder that healing—whether for people or animals—takes time, patience, and care.

Powered by Community

More than 100 volunteers helped bring the festival to life, underscoring the strong community support behind the sanctuary’s work.

From organizing activities to assisting guests, their efforts ensure the event runs smoothly—and that every animal continues to receive the attention it needs.

That sense of shared purpose is what keeps the sanctuary going year-round.

A Day That Makes a Difference

While the festival lasts just a day, its impact stretches far beyond.

Every ticket purchased.
Every item sold.
Every visit made.

All of it contributes to giving these animals a second chance.

And for those who attend, it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful—supporting a place where compassion isn’t just an idea, but a daily practice.
