Former Youth Pastor Charged in Alleged Sexual Abuse of Six Maryland Teens

Former Maryland youth pastor Thomas “Pastor Tommy” Pinkerton Jr., 52, has been charged with sexually abusing at least six teenagers between 2006 and 2010 while serving at Central Christian Church in Baltimore County and at his home, according to authorities. Extradited from Georgia last week, Pinkerton faces 24 felony and misdemeanor counts and has pleaded not guilty. Victims, ages 13 to 19 at the time, told police he normalized inappropriate touching and kissing by calling it a “heavenly” or “brotherly” kiss. Assemblies of God officials said Pinkerton was never formally credentialed, and his former church said he has not been affiliated for more than 15 years. Police believe there may be more victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
