A Ride With a Purpose
Each year, local motorcycle groups take part in whatโs known as the โBunny Run,โ an event that blends their love of riding with a mission to give back. On the eve of Easter, bikers suited upโnot just in leather, but with stuffed bunnies in handโready to deliver smiles to children spending the holiday in hospitals.
Their destination: hospitals across Berks and neighboring Lehigh County, where young patients and their families could use a lift during what can be a difficult time.
Tough Exterior, Tender Hearts
While their appearance may suggest rugged toughness, these riders are driven by something far softer. Participants shared that seeing the joy on a childโs face makes the entire ride worthwhile.
For many of the bikers, this event isnโt just a traditionโitโs a meaningful way to start the riding season. Delivering stuffed animals may seem simple, but in a hospital setting, even the smallest gesture can bring comfort and calm.
Small Gifts, Big Impact
A stuffed bunny might not seem like much, but for a child facing illness or uncertainty, it can make all the difference. Riders noted how quickly a smile can appear, how tension can ease, and how a moment of joy can ripple through a room.
Thatโs what keeps them coming back year after year.
Keeping the Tradition Alive
The Bunny Run has become more than an eventโitโs a promise. A promise that as long as there are kids who need a reason to smile, these bikers will show up.
Because sometimes, kindness doesnโt arrive quietlyโit rolls in on two wheels.
