A Milestone Worth Celebrating
In Gardnerville, Nevada, Boulay recently celebrated her 103rd birthday surrounded by friends and caregivers at the local community and senior center.
Those who know her best describe her as “feisty” and a “firecracker”—someone who refuses to slow down.
And by all accounts, that’s exactly how she’s lived her life.
A Lifetime of Movement
Born in Alta in 1923, Boulay’s love for movement began early.
She learned to dance at just five years old, standing on her father’s feet. That early spark turned into a lifelong passion, eventually leading her to teach ballroom dancing, including the mambo, cha-cha, tap, and even hula.
At 103, she’s still at it—regularly attending yoga, dance, and weight classes.
“You can’t expect too much out of life by just sitting,” Boulay says. “It’s more fun to move around.”
A Life of Adventure
Her story doesn’t stop at the dance floor.
Boulay has traveled the world—parasailing in Mexico, zip-lining in Australia, and visiting places like New Zealand and Europe multiple times.
She’s chased experiences, not comfort.
And that mindset, she says, has made all the difference.
Perspective Through the Years
Over more than a century, Boulay has lived through profound moments in history, including World War II, when two of her brothers were held in a prison camp.
It was a difficult time—but one she remembers with perspective, not bitterness.
Instead, she focuses on what brought her joy.
A Simple Philosophy
If there’s a secret to her longevity, Boulay doesn’t overcomplicate it.
Stay active. Stay positive. Keep going.
“If you’re not moving around, you’re not happy,” she says.
At 103, she’s still proving that to be true.
