The Battle for America’s Soul: Time to THINK AMERICAN, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ALONE

Some things are bigger, even more important, than the next election. Like it or not, there is a raging battle to decide what should and will be the basic fabric of the United States of America. Call it the battle for our soul.

In simple terms, there are two sides. The first side believes that, while not perfect today or ever, our country has been a beacon of freedom, liberty and opportunity. They believe the things that made us great in the first place will be the things that guide us to solve the problems that confront us. The second side believes that our history is on predicated on our own glorifying and accepting evil in the name of all sorts of thingsracism, colonialism, anti-woman, etc. This side believes we need to “be honest with ourselves,” admit our mistakes, and repent. We are to toe the line of each and every policy they advocate 100 percent of the time in order to guide us away from our evil past and into the light of a new and just society.

It is make-believe to pretend that those who are of the second view are anything other than rigid, absolute, and unyielding in their point of view. They are not proud of America, and they make no bones about it. They claim to have faith in the ability of the country to evolve into what they envision to be proper, but until then, it is their mission to systemically undo and restructure any and all institutions and beliefs centered on thinking our nation is that “shining city on the hill,” as Ronald Reagan once said.

One would have to be naïve to conclude anything other than that School Two dominates within the Unholy Trinity of the mainstream media, academia, and the world of entertainment. Nothing is sacred. The Constitution? An ancient document. The First Amendment? A concept that is outdated in this digital world we live in. We need some sort of filter that prevents “misinformation” or “disinformation.” The view is motivated by the desire to limit communications to the “truth.” We must avoid misinformation and disinformation. Who will define the “truth?” They will, free of charge.

Oh, and let’s be sure to have the Federal Government tell communications platforms what they should allow and what they should not allow. Never mind the entire purpose of the First Amendment is to deny the government from regulating speech. Plus, it means nothing to have it demonstrably proven that what they labeled as being untrue actually was true. Whether it is Hunter Biden’s computer, or so many of the things we were told during COVID, or a hundred other examples, those in School Two remain unrepentant.

It is no wonder that stunning percentages of younger Americans view our country with disdain. This is precisely what they have been taught to believe. Fly an American flag? Why, that could trigger some who do not value our history or traditions. However, put up a flag supporting Palestine? Suddenly, the First Amendment is not so outdated.

There is only one answer. That is to advance the idea that, once again, we need to “think American.” What does that mean? First, for all our shortcomings, the arc of history includes the premium our country has placed on liberty, freedom, and opportunity. Second, it means putting an end to an “equity agenda and replacing it with an “equality” agenda. There will always be differences in the talents and abilities of different groups of people. Those differences need not to alway be assumed to be the byproduct of racism, misogyny, anti-LGBTQIA, or anything else.

Thinking American does not accept anything or anyone placing themselves above others based on race, creed, gender, geography, etc. At the same time, thinking American does not accept that every difference that equates to differences in performance and achievement cannot be tolerated. For reasons that are absolutely good and right, we do not hear that having a large percentage of professional athletes (in multiple sports) being dominated by BIPOC (Black, indigenous, and people of color) individuals is wrongbecause it is NOT wrong. Do what must be done and give everyone an equal chance. Admit to ourselves that this has not been the case throughout history. Hold everyone to high standards. Focus on policies and programs that work, not just the ones that make people with an agenda feel good about themselves, while they ignore any serious analysis of the results of their policies. Respect the law and those who enforce it. Be grateful to all those who have served our country in uniform. Respect the right of someone to worship, or not worship, as they see fit. Say please and thank you; hold the door open for a stranger.

Stop acting as though the universe began when high-speed internet became available. Teach our history in a balanced and fair manner. Admit mistakes when they happened (even continue), but stop behaving as though our Founding Fathers were not heroes in the battle for freedom. They were, even though they were far from perfect.

We could do this all day. When we were done, there would still be two schools of thoughtone who is primarily proud of our country and another who does not feel that way. If anything is to change, we have to take action. We have to find paths to ensure our children get a real education, not one where they are indoctrinated to detest their own country, which then gets reinforced by corporate media and all things Hollywood. In other words, it is time to call Bullshit.

All of this is why I am proud to be heading up Think American News. At Think American, we believe there really is a large majority of Americans who share these views. However, we are too often made to feel alone. You are not the only person who rolls their eyes at the latest pronouncement of what School Two says our policy is or should be. You are not alone.

Instead of arguing with those who will never agree with us, we will seek opportunities to assure those who share our worldview can take specific actions to restore pride in our country—less equity and more equality. We will work to compel academia to support teaching our students how to think, not what to think.

Stay tuned. In the coming weeks and months, we will be highlighting problems where we believe the solution is to Think American. We can no longer afford to keep our heads in the sand, thinking this nonsense will correct itself as individuals age. It will not get better all by itself. Think American is ready to do its part. How about you?
