Inflation Scorecard: Trump Ahead of Biden at Six-Month Benchmark

In the latest WG Economy update, David Winston of The Winston Group breaks down the June Consumer Price Index (CPI) report and what it means for inflation under President Trump. Now six months into his term, the President Inflation Rate (PIR)—a metric developed by The Winston Group—shows prices have risen just 1.5% since inauguration. That compares favorably to President Biden’s 3.9% increase at the same point in his presidency. Historically, this marks one of the stronger showings, trailing only President Clinton (1.3%) and President Trump’s first term (0.9%).
