Minnesota Lawmaker Pushes Cooperation to “Stop the Madness”

Sen. Jeremy Miller Calls for Civility Amid Growing Concerns
Minnesota State Senator Jeremy Miller is calling for a reset in the state’s increasingly heated political climate, offering to broker a meeting between President Donald Trump and Governor Tim Walz in an effort to restore civility and bring stability to what he describes as a growing crisis in Minnesota.
In a statement released last week, Miller positioned himself as a willing intermediary between state and federal leadership, urging cooperation over confrontation as public concern mounts across the state.
A Personal Stake in Minnesota’s Future
Miller grounded his appeal in his deep personal ties to Minnesota. Born and raised in the state, he emphasized that Minnesota is not just where he serves in public office, but where he lives, raises his family, operates multiple businesses, and remains actively involved in his community.
He said it is deeply troubling to see Minnesota “constantly making headlines for all of the wrong reasons,” adding that his hope for calmer leadership and constructive dialogue has not come to fruition. According to Miller, the continued turmoil is taking a toll not only on the state’s reputation, but on the confidence of its residents.
Rising Concerns from Across the State
Miller said he is hearing from Minnesotans across the state — and even beyond its borders — who are alarmed by what they view as serious and unresolved problems. Among the most common concerns he cited are allegations of massive fraud, criminals not being held accountable for their actions, and a growing sense that violent crime is not being adequately addressed.
He also pointed to concerns about individuals in the state illegally, particularly those committing violent offenses, and frustration that state leadership has not taken stronger action to confront these issues. According to Miller, many residents feel that government responses have fallen short at a time when clarity and accountability are urgently needed.
Blame Without Solutions
At the core of Miller’s message is criticism of what he described as a pattern of blame, excuses, and political posturing without meaningful results. He argued that speculation has replaced solutions, while accountability and cooperation have taken a back seat.
Miller stressed that effective action requires coordination between state and federal authorities. Without that cooperation, he said, efforts to address fraud and crime will continue to fall short, leaving Minnesotans frustrated and skeptical that real progress is being made.
An Offer to Bridge the Divide
In response, Miller publicly offered to broker a meeting between President Trump and Governor Walz. His goal, he said, is to identify areas of agreement, reduce political rhetoric, and focus on practical solutions that hold criminals and fraudsters accountable.
Importantly, Miller emphasized that accountability should not come at the expense of law-abiding Minnesotans who rely on government services. Instead, he called for a targeted approach that addresses wrongdoing while protecting those who genuinely need support.
A Call for Cooperation Over Conflict
Miller concluded his statement with a direct appeal to both leaders, urging them to “dial back the rhetoric and stop the madness.” He framed cooperation as not just desirable, but necessary, arguing that Minnesotans deserve leadership focused on solutions rather than escalation.
Though a meeting remains unlikely, Miller’s offer reflects a broader sentiment among residents who are weary of political stalemates and eager for leadership that prioritizes results, accountability, and a renewed sense of civility in Minnesota.
