POWER Caucus Scholarship Opens for Hoosier Women Returning to School

Supporting Women on Non-Traditional Education Paths
Hoosier women who once paused their education and are ready to return to the classroom now have a new opportunity for support. The Indiana Political Organization for Women’s Education and Representation (POWER) Caucus is officially accepting applications for its annual scholarship program.
State Rep. Peggy Mayfield, a member of this bipartisan legislative women’s caucus, announced the opening of the application period and encouraged eligible women across the state to apply.
About the POWER Caucus Scholarship
The POWER Caucus, which focuses on improving the quality of life for women and families across Indiana, awards a $1,000 scholarship each year to a woman pursuing higher education through a non-traditional path.
The award supports women who are returning to school after time away — often stepping back into the world of higher education while balancing careers, family life, and community responsibilities.
“Many women pause their education to raise families or focus on their careers,” Mayfield said. “This scholarship supports their determination to return to school, grow and achieve no matter the obstacles. I encourage those eligible to apply and applaud these Hoosier women for taking the next step in their education.”
Eligibility and Application Details
Eligible applicants must:
• Be 25 years or older
• Be currently enrolled in or recently accepted to an Indiana college or university
• Be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
The scholarship is often awarded to a woman who demonstrates a passion for serving others and improving her community — reflecting the POWER Caucus’s mission of supporting personal advancement alongside civic engagement.
Applications can be submitted online. The deadline to apply is Nov. 7 at midnight, and late submissions will not be accepted.
Encouraging Lifelong Learning and Community Impact
The POWER Caucus scholarship recognizes determination and resilience, offering financial support to women who are ready to continue their education and make a difference in their communities. For Hoosier women returning to academic life, it serves as both encouragement and a step forward in achieving educational and career goals.
