Oklahoma House Unveils Full List of 2025 Interim Studies and Assignments

Lawmakers in the Oklahoma House now have their roadmap for the months ahead, as House Speaker Kyle Hilbert announced the final approval and committee assignments for interim studies on Friday.
The studies, which will take place between August 4 and November 6, 2025, are intended to provide legislators with the opportunity to dig deeper into complex or emerging policy topics that may warrant further discussion before formal legislation is introduced next session.
“These studies allow legislators to explore a wide range of issues,” said Speaker Hilbert. “Interim studies serve as an important tool in the toolbox of an individual or a group of legislators in preparing their policy initiatives for the 2026 session and initiating public buy-in. The interim study process provides an avenue for members to gather information, vet ideas and engage stakeholders.”
While interim study requests often reflect the priorities of individual House members, Hilbert clarified that they do not necessarily represent formal positions of the House Republican Caucus.
The process allows committee chairs discretion to schedule hearings and determine the scope of review. Topics often span a wide array of issues including health care, education, public safety, economic development, and regulatory reforms. Many policy ideas that begin as interim studies go on to form the basis of proposed legislation in future sessions.
A full list of the approved studies and their assigned committees can be found on the Oklahoma House of Representatives website, where updates will also be posted as committee chairs begin scheduling study sessions.
As lawmakers and stakeholders prepare for the 2026 legislative session, the interim study process offers a key opportunity for deeper dialogue, research, and public input across Oklahoma.
