Pushback Is Hell: Why Americans Are Finally Fighting Back Against Progressive Overreach

An Old Expression Returns

There is an old expression you do not hear much anymore. Payback is hell. After watching our powerful institutions—academia, legacy corporate media, and the world of entertainment (the Unholy Trinity)—be taken over by ideological progressives determined to force all of us to view the world as they do, America seems to be more willing to tell these folks to go to hell. For the first time in years, sane people are prepared to push back. Only time will tell if indeed pushback is hell.

Challenging Progressive Dogma

There are countless examples, but let’s spend some time on a handful of clear ones. Progressives have too long dominated what is okay to say in public. Pretending gender is not a matter of biological definition, we have been told it is just a “construct.” What you feel yourself to be is to be treated as more important than what you actually are. Most of us do not begrudge someone identifying themselves however they choose.

At the same time, large majorities do not agree that this means choosing your pronouns. It surely does not mean that an individual carrying a child is not a biological female. No amount of tortured logic and twisted language can change the reality of this. Choosing your own pronouns is ridiculous, and that does not make me a hater. Resisting that notion certainly should not result in people losing their jobs, which has happened more than once. Opposing biological males competing against biological women does not make me anti-trans. Progressives persist in behaving as though those who disagree with them are either not intelligent enough or decent enough to join their cause. They attempt to make failure to agree a matter of good taste. Some of us have had enough.

Double Standards and Hypocrisy

Until the latter part of the 1990s, the progressive mantra was that there was no such thing as a consensual sexual relationship that involved a superior and subordinate. Then, we had that little oops of Bill Clinton being a serial offender who treated his marriage as a matter of political convenience. Suddenly, the old rules fell by the wayside. When Clinton obviously lied under oath, the concept of nobody being above the law was not quite so important. After all, it was only about sex.

However, nothing among progressives requires logic beyond always being in the right and deserving the power to impose their opinions on the rest of us. Fast forward to the confirmation hearings of Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court Justice. Christine Blassey Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her while they were in high school. For our corporate legacy media, it mattered not that she could not remember the year, that her best friend said it never happened, or that Kavanaugh’s best friend, Mark Judge, denied everything. He has since gone on to write a book on all of this. In the new world of pushback, we believe it is fine and dandy to say the woman was batshit crazy.

Selective Outrage in Abuse Allegations

In the midst of the hearings, the “I believe her” movement sprang to life. However, that statement should have been amended to include the accuser not accusing a progressive of this sort of abuse. When Tara Reade came forward to accuse Joe Biden of inappropriate behavior, not only did progressives fail to support her, but they actively sought to undermine her credibility.

America’s History Under Fire

What about America’s own history? How many times can we be told that failure to focus on our shortcomings is to be in denial? Absolutely, where we have fallen short, we need to be honest about it. That does not mean a debate as to whether we were in the right in World War II deserves anything other than being dismissed for the nonsense it is. We are not an evil country defined by being colonial invaders, determined to oppress others, or that everything can be reduced to the sin of white supremacy.

Rationalizing Violence

Most recently, we have seen progressives horrifically either rationalize violence or even celebrate it, even when it rises to the level of actually killing people. It says here that progressives have zero moral high ground unless and until they give an unqualified condemnation of violence to achieve political objectives. Full stop.

The Half-Life of a Movement

Remember this: Everything human has a half-life, even life itself. The progressive movement is failing now in no small part due to its hubris. Too many Americans are now willing to push back. Hopefully, it is not too late.
