Crazy Is Crazy — It’s Time to Say It Out Loud

When “Unkind” Becomes Forbidden

One of the more recent trends in society is the idea that thinking or saying anything that might be construed as unkind is verboten, no matter what else might be associated with a given topic or person. I will resist the temptation to observe among the chattering class; this courtesy is not extended to those they have decreed to be of poor intent or belief. You know, as in every Trump voter.

Calling BS Isn’t Being Cruel

In no way is this column a call to be rude or insensitive. However, it is a request that we be granted the privilege of observing that something is ridiculous and does not deserve to be taken seriously. For too long, our progressive friends have made criticizing their dogma into being a sign of a lack of intelligence, sophistication, or even decency. In their world, it is just bad manners not to toe the line.

It is time for sane and rational people to call BS. Some things are simply ridiculous and should be treated as such. The key is to stick to the particulars and not allow progressives to change the topic at hand.

Milk Is Racist? You Can’t Make This Up

Where to start? Every day brings a new instance of craziness. Last week, a college professor made the claim that whole milk is racist. NYU bioethics professor Arthur Caplan said, “I am suspicious. Milk drinking is political. Drinking whole white milk has played a big role in racist and far-right thinking. In America, drinking whole milk has for years been a part of alt-right, white racist messaging in tweets, memes, and videos.”

Caplan went on at length, arguing that among the white racists, images of white people chugging milk are popular on racist sites, e.g., “if you can’t drink milk, you have to go back.” Reports did not specify as to where they would go back to. Say it: Sir, you are nuts.

People Identifying as Animals

Do you know what a therian is? Neither did I. It is when people identify as animals. You know, put a leash around your neck, be walked as a cat, and drink from a dish. Cats are hardly the only species involved, but they do seem to be particularly in vogue.

Amaya Prado, an educational and clinical child psychologist, believes it is wrong to view this as a mental illness. It is “a way of searching for a shared or symbolic identity, connecting with the emotional or spiritual traits they associate with a particular animal. It’s not a psychological or pathological disorder,” she says. “The key is understanding what psychological need this identification is fulfilling.”

Have we lost our minds? Suppose it would be okay for me to take our two boxers to the local bar and demand they be treated as humans trapped in the body of a dog? No doubt, you will soon see these two nut cases labeled as “experts” on CNN.

Photo ID and Manufactured Outrage

We are repeatedly told that requiring a photo ID to vote is both anti-woman and racist. Everyone with a brain focused on more than Democratic talking points knows this is ridiculous on its face. Considering the number of instances a photo ID is required, you would think we would know by now if it was unreasonable to require them. Strangely, it seems requiring multiple forms of ID to remove snow is okay, or else New York City Mayor Mamdani would never do it. Oops, he did.

Instead of getting into some complicated debate, we ought to say: “You are nuts. Plus, 80 percent of Americans agree they should be required. You have quite another agenda, and I do not apologize for saying it out loud.”

Politics Invades the Olympics

Most Americans had no difficulty rooting for our country during the Winter Olympics. Our progressive friends were “conflicted” in doing so, due to the terrible things happening in our country. The Huffington Post published an article offering the observation “if waving the American flag or chanting ‘USA!’ turns you off right now, you’re not alone.” Keith Olbermann let it be known that the men’s hockey team going to the White House was terrible and wrong. In previous years, the rule of thumb was that politics ended at the water’s edge. No more.

Leaving aside what the predictable reaction would be if someone had trashed Barack Obama in this fashion, it does seem fair to believe it should be possible for all Americans to root for athletes wearing their country’s uniform in international competition. We should tell these self-important jerks arguing the opposite to go to hell.

Time to Call Madness What It Is

The common denominator of all of these is the same. You are not supposed to scream this is insane because it either would hurt somebody’s feelings or offend the sensibilities of our benevolent betters, or both. Time for the good guys to end the madness.

Common Sense: Crazy is crazy. We should start saying it out loud.
