Constitution for Sale: The Left’s Dangerous Double Standard on Justice

Most Americans are unwilling to turn our laws inside out, much less view the Constitution as a play toy to be utilized for partisan political reasons. One thing they know for sure is that they do not approve of using the legal system for political purposes and pretending otherwise.
A day does not go by without some progressive arguing that President Trump is undermining the Constitution and the rule of law, which constitutes “an existential threat to democracy.” Please.
In 2024, in clear view of the public, Americans witnessed the most politicized prosecutions in our history. One of them involved someone who had literally campaigned on the promise of prosecuting President Trump. In another instance, with no damage to anyone, the charge was that he had inflated numbers to secure funding for a construction project. Not only did nobody lose a penny, but the lenders testified under oath that they would love to do business with him again.
In Georgia, the district attorney hired her lover and paid him considerably more than was paid to an attorney outside of her office to go after President Trump. Once, a string of misdemeanors was strung together to invent a felony.
We all know why this was done. To be able to run advertisements that could truthfully say President Trump was a convicted felon. What about not politicizing justice? Oh, and in one instance, the judge was the father of a Democratic political consultant who had openly criticized President Trump multiple times. In a world that truly respected blind justice, the judge would have recused himself.
We now know with certainty that the FBI and Department of Justice had determined Hunter Biden’s computer to be real but failed to be forthcoming prior to the 2020 election. They slow-walked various cases to allow the statute of limitations to expire, making prosecution legally impossible.
When it comes to honoring the independence of sitting judges, it gets a little tricky. It undermines the rule of law if the current Administration openly criticizes a given judge. However, it is fine and dandy to call the Supreme Court an illegitimate institution. You can even utter threatening remarks after the Court renders a decision you do not like. Hello, Chuck Schumer.
That brings us to today. In a blatant attempt to end run what they could not secure at the ballot box, progressives are going to court to undo as many of President Trump’s Executive Orders as possible. Time after time, liberal justices have found ways to block the Administration. To be fair, there have been judges appointed by Republicans who have issued decisions not favorable to the Administration. Time and again, these decisions have been reversed on appeal.
In short, progressives have essentially taken the position that the instruments of justice can only be responsibly exercised when they advance their agenda. It is ridiculous to be forced to pretend that what the Deep State and its people did to President Trump is anything other than using the law to benefit Democrats and hurt Republicans. When called out, all we hear is the tired rhetoric excusing the behavior. After all, these warriors preserving democracy cannot be expected to play fairly. So far, there is no indication of regret or remorse for their behavior.
Remember this: You cannot use your power to benefit your agenda with an expectation that when the tables are turned, you have the moral high ground to scream in protest. You cannot rationalize that criticizing a Federal District Court Judge is an assault on the rule of law, but criticizing and threatening those on the Supreme Court is acceptable. The American public sees right through the hypocrisy. What do you think?
