Looking for Truth, Not Comfort
My soon-to-be 99-year-old mother often observed that to find most things, you have to look for them. Apparently, when it comes to voter integrity, we are supposed to substitute ignorance is bliss for what one might discover if a serious search were undertaken.
In addition, the desire to impose common sense protections favored by more than 80 percent are dismissed as being both unneeded and a form of disenfranchisement for the usual progressive laundry list of “underserved communities.” Toss in an attitude of smug arrogance of “those with good hearts and in the know” agree that voter fraud is nothing more than a right-wing effort to reduce the number of votes cast. It is almost as though these folks want to make it a matter of good taste to agree with them. Not doing so makes one both ignorant and of bad heart.
When the Media Decides What You’re Allowed to Know
When the contents of Hunter Biden’s computer became public, the legacy corporate media did everything possible to block it from becoming a real story. Facebook blocked posts involving the matter. The media informed that they could not give this coverage, because they “could not independently corroborate” that it was Hunter Biden’s computer or that its content was real. Well, duh.
If you don’t actually do some real journalism, independent corroboration is a little hard to accomplish. Instead, we were all warned this had the look and feel of a Russian disinformation campaign. Later, we found multiple instances of some of the supposed leaders in covering politics saying the quiet part out loud. That to give the story coverage would hurt Biden and help Trump, so let’s do all we can to spike it. Post-election surveys revealed had the story been more public, its impact would have been significant, likely sufficient to have re-elected Trump. You are free to call this many things. However, honest journalism is not one of them. Please show me the list of those in the field who made the decisions who have suffered one iota of negative consequences.
Let’s Look at the Numbers
Now, let’s go to the tape and examine some actual facts. Ask yourself a simple question at the end. What is the best and most likely explanation for these numbers? We want to determine the most logical accounting for these numbers.
80 percent of Americans favor a photo ID and ensuring only citizens are voting. In the world we live in, you need proof of identification for getting on an airplane, a prescription filled, buying a gun, and so many other things. My personal favorite is the recent rally involving Senator John Ossoff (D-GA). You needed to produce a government photo ID to get into the event being held to oppose requiring a photo ID to vote. You cannot make up this stuff.
If Voter ID Is So Terrible, Why Is It Everywhere Else?
Wouldn’t you think if requiring a photo ID were horribly racist, that we might know that by now? So, what is the best and most logical explanation as to
why Democrats are so adamant in their opposition? By any definition of the term, that should be considered a fair question to ask. It certainly does not indicate any racial animus or desire to depress honest voting.
Turnout Trends That Deserve Scrutiny
In 2016, there were 157.6 million registered voters. 136.5 million of them voted. An impressive 86 percent. In 2020, 168.3 million were registered, with 158.4 million voting. That is 94 percent. 10.7 million more registered voters, a six percent growth. In 2024, there were 174 million registered, with 154 million casting ballots. That is 88 percent turnout, a growth of 5.7 million in registered voters, a three percent increase in growth.
What Changed in 2020
Let’s try to remember all the way back to 2020. You may recall there was this little thing we called COVID. Several states made it a lot easier for a vote to be cast and counted. Unfortunately, they did so in a fashion that begged for mischief. One person is allowed to bundle the votes of others, dump them in an unsupervised lock box, and have them included in the vote count. Absentee votes with no real proof of those votes being honestly cast. Counting votes that were postmarked after Election Day. That list goes on and on.
Comparing 2020 to 2024
Hum. Between 2016 and 2020, turnout jumped from 88 percent to 94 percent. The increase in registration was 10.7 million versus 5.7 million between 2020 and 2024. The percent of reduced growth was north of 50 percent. What happened? While some progressive states made matters even worse, reforms in several red states made it easier to vote and harder to cheat. In these GOP states, record numbers actually voted despite the predictions of gloom and doom.
Population Growth and Registration Questions
The population of the country grew by 4.7 million between 2017 and 2020, a 1.4 percent increase. Between 2021 and 2023 (last year with full accounting), the population grew by 2.4 million or eight percent, an increase of 58 percent.
It is estimated of the 14 million illegal immigrants, at least one quarter came into the country while Biden was President. The birth rate in this period was remarkably consistent, between 3.6 million and 3.7 million. Meanwhile, the death rate was steady between 3.1 million and 3.6 million. Not a lot of growth, except for the influx of illegal immigrants.
Asking Questions Is Not an Accusation
Let me loudly state, I am not accusing all, or even many, here illegally of having cast a ballot counted in the total. I am saying that when you look at the combination of changes in the process made in 2020, as well as the numbers for registration/percentage voting and overall population numbers, it would seem some aggressive journalism was in order. Instead, all we get is a parroting of DNC talking points.
Common Sense Isn’t Controversial
To find serious and real voter fraud may be a wasted exercise. My gut tells me that is not the case. However, if I am wrong, it will not be the first time. In the meantime, can we please stop the ridiculous opposition to voter ID? Stop the performative posturing and give Americans what 80 percent plus want to see happen. While you’re at it, please account for all these numbers. Do not be afraid to test the hypothesis that serious fraud may be involved. Surely, do not dismiss it out of hand just because there are no pictures and announcements of where it is happening.
A Final Thought From Mom
Common Sense: Mom was right (once again). To find voter fraud, you need to do more than repeat silly nonsense. Where are the real reporters when we need them?
