Bless Your Headlines: When TikTok Meets Turf Equipment

Somewhere, at some point, there was a conversation.

Maybe it went something like this:
“Hey, you know what would go viral?”
“No, what?”
“Driving a lawnmower… through the front doors of a Target.”

And—this is the important part—no one said, “Absolutely not.”

Welcome back to another edition of Bless Your Headlines, where we take a look at the stories that make you pause mid-scroll, sigh deeply, and wonder how we got here as a society.

The Plan That Was Never a Plan

Let’s be clear: this was not a plan. This was a moment. A fleeting, poorly thought-out, “this will be hilarious” kind of moment that somehow made it all the way from idea to execution without encountering a single functioning brake pedal—metaphorical or otherwise.

According to police in Ocala, two 18-year-olds decided to film a social media stunt involving a lawnmower and the automatic doors of a Target. The result? Property damage, criminal charges, and a front-row seat to consequences that last a whole lot longer than a TikTok clip.

And if you’re thinking, “Surely that was a one-time lapse in judgment,” think again. The night before reportedly involved a leaf blower… inside a restaurant.

Because once you’ve committed to chaos, apparently you commit.

Florida, You Stay Busy

Now, to be fair, Florida does not have a monopoly on strange behavior. But it does seem to have a standing reservation in the national spotlight when it comes to headlines like this.

It’s not that other states aren’t doing questionable things. It’s just that Florida’s version tends to come with… production value.

A lawnmower. Automatic doors. A big-box retailer.

This wasn’t just bad judgment—it was a full scene.

Going Viral vs. Going to Court

Here’s where things take a turn from absurd to sobering.

Because while the internet might reward chaos with clicks, the real world tends to respond with charges. And in this case, those charges include criminal mischief and disorderly conduct—along with a permanent record that doesn’t disappear when the video stops trending.

The clip might rack up views. The mugshot? That sticks.

There’s this idea floating around that one viral moment can turn into something bigger—fame, influence, opportunity. And occasionally, sure, lightning strikes. But far more often, what sticks is the label.

And “guy who drove a lawnmower through Target doors” is a tough one to shake.

The Internet Always Has Thoughts

Naturally, once the arrests hit social media, the comment section did what it does best: split into two camps.

On one side, the comedians. Comparisons to Beavis and Butt-Head, jokes about lawn care gone wrong, and the kind of humor that thrives on secondhand embarrassment.

On the other side, reality. The people pointing out that this isn’t just content—it’s damage, charges, and consequences that someone has to deal with long after the laughs fade.

Both can be true at the same time. It’s ridiculous. It’s also real.

The Takeaway (Because There Has to Be One)

At some point, we all outgrow the phase where doing something reckless for attention feels like a good idea. Or at least… we’re supposed to.

Because “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” stops being funny when the prizes come with court dates and legal fees.

So here’s a thought for the next time someone says, “This will go viral.”

Maybe ask a follow-up question:
“Will it also go on a police report?”

If the answer is even possibly yes… it might be time to put the lawnmower down.

Bless your headlines, Florida. Never change. (Actually—maybe change just a little.)
