Record Housing Shift: Sellers Outnumber Buyers by 500K, Florida’s Market Feels the Pressure

The U.S. housing market is shifting, with sellers now far outnumbering buyers by nearly 500,000—a record high, according to Redfin. After a year of economic uncertainty and high home prices, buyers are gaining more negotiating power. Florida is feeling the brunt of this shift, with six of the top ten buyer’s markets found in the Sunshine State. Redfin expects home prices to drop 1% by the end of 2025, but many sellers remain hopeful their homes will still fetch top dollar. Despite the shift, homeownership remains out of reach for many due to affordability issues and rising mortgage rates.
