7 Circle of Kindness Recycling Drive Returns to Dayton, Ohio

A popular community recycling event is returning to Ohio’s Miami Valley this month, giving residents a convenient way to responsibly dispose of hard-to-recycle household items.

The 7 Circle of Kindness Community Recycling Drive will take place Saturday, June 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CMG Ohio Media Center parking lot, located at 1611 S. Main St. in Dayton.

Now in its fourth year, the event is designed to help residents recycle or donate items that often cannot be handled through regular curbside recycling programs.

A Community Effort for the Environment

The recycling drive is a collaboration between WHIO-TV, Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley, Montgomery County Environmental Services, Washington-Centerville Public Library Creativity Commons, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Waste-Free Dayton, and Rumpke.

Organizers say the event continues to grow each year as more residents look for responsible ways to clear out household items while reducing waste.

Last year’s drive brought in more than 750 cars and collected thousands of pounds of materials, including 4,480 pounds of Styrofoam, 179 pounds of expired medication, clothing, furniture, electronics, and other reusable or recyclable items.

Keeping Items Out of Landfills

The goal is simple: make recycling easier and more accessible while keeping unnecessary waste out of local landfills and waterways.

Many common household items, including Styrofoam, electronics, medications, and certain reusable goods, require special handling. Events like this give residents one centralized drop-off location and help connect them with organizations equipped to process those materials safely.

Organizers say the full list of accepted items for this year’s event will be released soon.

Kindness Through Stewardship

The event is part of WHIO-TV’s 7 Circle of Kindness initiative, which focuses on community needs through seven pillars, including education, peace, the environment, and diversity.
