Budweiser Leans Into Americana With Patriotic Super Bowl Ad

A Familiar Symbol Returns to the Big Stage

Budweiser is reclaiming its place in Super Bowl advertising with a deeply patriotic new commercial that celebrates the brand’s 150-year American legacy. The spot, titled “American Icons,” marks Budweiser’s 48th appearance during the Super Bowl and signals a continued return to the brewery’s roots of Americana, tradition and national pride.

Clydesdales, a Foal and a Bald Eagle

The 60-second commercial centers on a Clydesdale foal that forms an unlikely friendship with a young bird. As the two grow together, the bird ultimately reveals itself to be a bald eagle, soaring from the back of the now-grown horse as Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” plays in the background. The imagery evokes freedom, perseverance and the enduring spirit of the country — visual hallmarks long associated with Budweiser’s most beloved ads.

The moment is punctuated by a quiet exchange between two farmers, one asking, “You crying?” and the other replying, “Nah. Sun’s in my eyes,” underscoring the emotional tone without overstatement.

A Celebration of American Heritage

Budweiser says the ad is meant to honor its “deep-rooted American heritage,” featuring real farmers and familiar symbols that have defined the brand for generations. Todd Allen, Budweiser’s senior vice president of marketing, said the company knew it had to “rise to the occasion” for its milestone anniversary, delivering a story that feels distinctly American.

Strong Social Media Reaction

The commercial has already sparked a wave of positive reactions online. Fans praised the return to classic Budweiser storytelling, with many calling it one of the brand’s strongest ads in years. Comments highlighted themes of pride, freedom and nostalgia — qualities many viewers say have been missing from recent Super Bowl advertising.

As the Super Bowl approaches, Budweiser’s “American Icons” ad is positioning itself as both a celebration of the past and a statement about where the brand is headed.
