A Simple Decision That Sparked It All
Earlier this month in Idaho, longtime delivery driver Dan Simpson made a quick decision that would change everything.
While completing a routine order for Domino’s, Simpson realized the store was out of the Diet Cokes the customers had requested. Instead of delivering the order as-is, he made a stop at a nearby store and picked them up himself.
To him, it was no big deal—just part of doing the job right.
A Viral Moment Turns Into Something Bigger
But for the customers, it meant more.
So much more, in fact, that they launched a GoFundMe to thank him—hoping to help as he prepares for retirement after more than a decade on the job.
What happened next surprised everyone.
The fundraiser quickly took off, raising around $170,000 and drawing attention from people across the country.
“What felt like a small moment at our front door has turned into an outpouring of kindness from all over the world,” said customer Brian Wilson.
Now, National Brands Are Stepping In
The story didn’t stop there.
Simpson’s act of kindness caught the attention of both Domino’s and Coca-Cola, who are now leaning into the moment in a big way.
From April 30 through May 3, customers can receive a free 20-ounce Coca-Cola beverage by using the promo code “DANTHEMAN”—a nod to the man whose simple gesture started it all.
In a statement, Domino’s said the promotion is meant to continue the spirit of generosity inspired by Simpson.
Still Humble, Still Grounded
Despite the national attention, Simpson remains focused on what matters.
“It took me about three minutes,” he said, reflecting on the now-viral moment.
His message is simple—and perhaps why the story resonates so widely:
“Always think about other people… if you’re doing a job, do as good a job as you can.”
Why This Story Sticks
There’s something about stories like this that cut through the noise.
Maybe it’s because they feel real. Relatable. Repeatable.
No grand plan. No expectation of recognition.
Just a decision—to care a little more than necessary.
And in this case, that decision didn’t just make someone’s day.
