Living With Metastatic Cancer
His treatment follows a strategy known as “pulsing,” where doctors allow the cancer to grow slightly before restarting treatment cycles.
The process can be emotionally difficult, Tesh acknowledged, but it has allowed him to continue managing the disease over time.
“It’s scary until you get used to it,” he said.
The Role of Faith and Family
Throughout the journey, Tesh says his greatest support has been his wife, actress Connie Sellecca.
When he first received the diagnosis, Tesh admitted he felt overwhelmed and discouraged. At times, the emotional toll nearly strained their marriage.
Sellecca, however, remained determined to keep him focused on fighting the disease.
“She just rose up and said, ‘This is not us,’” Tesh recalled.
He credits her faith and encouragement for helping him regain strength and perspective during some of the most difficult moments.
Turning the Battle Around
Tesh has acknowledged that coping with a terminal diagnosis initially led him to unhealthy habits, including drinking too much while struggling with the emotional impact.
But with support from his wife, he says he eventually turned things around and recommitted himself to living fully.
Over time, the couple came to view the cancer fight as something they were facing together.
“It was a couple’s battle,” Tesh said.
And more than ten years after that original diagnosis, the entertainer says he continues to focus on gratitude and resilience as he moves forward.
