Tennessee Expands Veterans Discounts Across State Parks

Honoring Service With New Ways to Enjoy the Outdoors
Veterans who call Tennessee home will now find even more reasons to explore the state’s natural landscapes, thanks to newly expanded discounts announced by State Rep. William Slater and State Sen. Ferrell Haile. The lawmakers unveiled the benefits in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, describing them as a heartfelt gesture toward those who have served in uniform.
“The United States continues to prosper and enjoy unrivaled freedoms thanks to the tens of millions of men and women who have honorably served,” Slater and Haile said in a joint statement. With more than 440,000 veterans living in Tennessee, the legislators emphasized that while no program can match the depth of their sacrifice, the state is committed to finding meaningful ways to express its gratitude.
Seasonal Savings Crafted With Veterans in Mind
Rather than a simple set of rebates, the new discounts are designed to make Tennessee’s vast outdoor offerings more accessible throughout the year. Veterans can now enjoy substantial savings on everything from quiet winter cabin getaways to summer campground stays and year-round rounds of golf.
For those who prefer nights under the stars, camping benefits now shift with the seasons: warmer months bring a 25% discount on nightly campsite rentals, while the colder season—from December through February—offers a deeper 50% savings. And each Veterans Day, eligible Tennesseans will receive a complimentary night of camping, a nod meant to allow families and friends to gather in the places that define the Volunteer State’s landscape.
Cabin rentals now follow a similar structure, with 25% off during peak months and 50% off during the winter season, giving veterans the flexibility to choose the experience that suits them—whether it’s a lakeside summer retreat or a quiet off-season escape. Lodge rooms, meanwhile, come with a steady 25% discount all year long, ensuring that a comfortable bed and a warm view of Tennessee’s hills remain within reach.
More Ways to Experience Tennessee’s Parks
The state’s offerings don’t stop at overnight accommodations. Veterans will also save on some of the most popular recreation options inside Tennessee’s parks. Green fees at state-run golf courses now come with a 20% discount, while purchases at park gift shops and golf shops are reduced by 15%. These savings add up, especially across Tennessee’s expansive park system—62 parks spread over more than 250,000 acres, complete with six lodges, 36 campgrounds, 373 cabins, and nine golf courses.
The state also reinforced its ongoing commitment to disabled veterans. Tennessee residents with a 100% disability rating will continue to receive half-off campsite and cabin rentals throughout the year, ensuring these longtime benefits remain intact.
Ensuring Veterans Know What’s Available
The lawmakers encouraged all Tennessee resident veterans to review the documentation requirements and specific restrictions before booking. Complete details are available on the Tennessee State Parks website at TNStateParks.com/about/discounts.
