Voter Support for Israel Declines Amid Shifting Global Sentiments

Public Opinion Shifts Following Peace Deal
In the wake of a historic peace agreement that officially ended the Gaza War, new data shows that American voter sympathy for Israel has dropped sharply. According to a Rasmussen Reports survey conducted October 7–9, 2025, only 41% of likely U.S. voters say they sympathize more with Israelis—a decline from 48% in February and 59% in November 2023. Meanwhile, sympathy toward Palestinians has climbed to 28%, with 31% of voters remaining undecided.

Views on Trump Administration Policy
When asked about the Trump administration’s handling of U.S. policy toward Israel and Palestine, 36% of respondents said it was too favorable toward Israel. Just 11% viewed the policy as too favorable toward Palestinians, while 34% felt it struck the right balance. Republicans were most likely to support the administration’s stance, while Democrats were the most critical.

Divergence Across Party and Demographic Lines
The poll revealed stark partisan differences. Fifty-six percent of Republicans said they sympathize more with Israel, compared to 28% of Democrats. Among Democrats, 35% favored the Palestinians—a significant increase from previous surveys. Sympathy toward Israel was strongest among older voters and white respondents, while Hispanic voters were most likely to agree with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement rejecting genocide accusations as “false” and “outrageous.”

A Nation Divided on a Complex Issue
The Rasmussen data reflects a broader realignment in public sentiment as voters reexamine longstanding positions on foreign policy and international conflict. While older Americans remain largely supportive of Israel, younger generations appear more divided, suggesting that perspectives on the Middle East may continue to evolve in the years ahead.
