Too Much Screen Time? It May Be Harming Kids’ Hearts

A new study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association finds that excessive screen time may pose serious risks to children’s physical health—not just their mental well-being. Researchers in Denmark tracked over 1,000 kids and teens, finding that more hours spent on phones, TVs, gaming consoles, and computers correlated with increased risks for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and insulin resistance. Sleep also played a key role, with shorter and later sleep patterns making things worse. While the study doesn’t prove cause and effect, it adds to growing calls for limits on kids’ screen time. As researchers warn, heart health habits start early.
