Billie Jo Jones Set to Compete on New CBS Series ‘The Road’ as She Drops Sizzling Summer Remix

Rising country star Billie Jo Jones is trading in small-town stages for the national spotlight this fall as she joins the cast of The Road, a new country music competition series airing Sundays on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The high-stakes show follows twelve emerging artists as they tour the country, compete for the chance to open for superstar Keith Urban, and navigate the real-life ups and downs of making it in music.
The show features big-name firepower behind the scenes, including executive producers Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan, and “Tour Manager” Gretchen Wilson. The live audience also gets a say in who advances each week, adding an interactive twist that mirrors the raw unpredictability of life on tour.
“Buckle up, everyone! I’m beyond excited (and relieved) to FINALLY share my big secret,” Jones shared. “You’ll be seeing me on The Road this fall. Prepare yourselves for an amazing ride – I promise it’s worth the wait!”
Jones joins a stacked lineup of up-and-coming talent including Adam Sanders, Jenny Tolman, Cody Hibbard, and others vying for the spotlight and a shot at country stardom. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, and 101 Studios, The Road promises viewers an inside look at the grit, heartache, and hustle it takes to chase a dream from the backroads to the big leagues.
If Jones’ past few years are any indication, she’s more than ready. The Dallas-born artist has built a steady following through a mix of honky-tonk grit, heartfelt lyrics, and powerhouse vocals. She’s shared the stage with legends like Deana Carter, The Oak Ridge Boys, and even Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton—but one of her proudest moments remains opening for her childhood hero, Ray Price.
As she gears up for her TV debut, Billie Jo is also keeping fans moving with a fresh, high-energy remix of her latest single, Why You Gotta Be So Cowboy. The track, which premiered on Taste of Country, is a fiery summer anthem with a dance-floor twist. With sharp lyrics like “Talk is cheap when your words are free, and cheap ain’t got nothing to do with me,” Jones proves she can bring the sass and the substance.
Written by Len Snow and Aaron Weatherholt and produced by Noah Henson (Kane Brown, Brantley Gilbert), the remix drops just in time to land on every summer playlist.
Jones continues to tour across Texas this summer and fall, with upcoming stops including Fort Worth, Orange Grove, Mount Pleasant, and more. She’s also back in the studio working with legendary producer Kent Wells (Dolly Parton) on her next full-length album, due later this year.
From living room performances for her grandparents to the national stage, Billie Jo Jones is proving that heart, hustle, and a little honky-tonk flair can still take you a long way—especially when “the road” calls.
