Darryl Worley Breaks Ground on Alabama Tiny Home Resort

Darryl Worley’s ‘Awful Beautiful Life’ Luxury Tiny Home Resort Breaks Ground in Alabama
Country music star Darryl Worley is taking the meaning of “Awful Beautiful Life” far beyond the charts and into the heart of Enterprise, Alabama. This week, ground officially broke on Worley’s Awful Beautiful Life Luxury Tiny Home Resort, a thoughtfully designed lodging community aimed at serving military families, travelers, and retirees alike — all while embracing one of the fastest-growing trends in housing and hospitality.
Located within miles of Fort Rucker and along a heavily traveled corridor where roughly 12 million vehicles pass through each year en route to Florida’s panhandle, the resort is scheduled to open in late spring 2026. It blends the convenience of short-term lodging with the amenities and lifestyle appeal of a high-end resort, offering an alternative to traditional hotels without sacrificing comfort.
A Strategic Location With a Purpose
Enterprise’s proximity to Fort Rucker plays a central role in the vision for the resort. The area sees a steady flow of government contractors, military families visiting graduates of Army aviation programs, and guests touring the Army Aviation Museum. According to Worley, that constant movement created both a need and an opportunity.
“I won’t forget getting that phone call from my dear friend Ronnie Gilley as he shared this incredible vision with me last year,” Worley said. “I’ve done lots of good things with Ronnie, but this one sparked something in me as I knew we could help the families of those stationed at Fort Rucker.”
The result is a lodging concept designed to meet real-world needs — flexible stays, convenient access, and an environment that feels welcoming rather than temporary.
Tiny Homes, Big Comfort
The Awful Beautiful Life Luxury Tiny Home Resort will feature 75 individual tiny homes, each carefully designed to maximize comfort and livability. While the footprint may be compact, the experience is anything but cramped.
Each unit includes a downstairs bedroom, kitchen, sitting area, and a covered porch with generous overhangs, allowing guests to enjoy outdoor living spaces in a variety of weather conditions. The design makes it easy to entertain visitors or simply relax without feeling boxed in — a key consideration for longer stays.
The resort itself will offer an impressive list of shared amenities, including a resort-style lagoon pool, a fully equipped fitness center, an event center, clubhouse, chill lounge, pickleball court, cornhole court, and a dedicated dog walking park. A 24/7 gated security entrance adds an extra layer of privacy and safety for guests.
A Two-for-One Solution for the Military
Worley describes the project as a “two-for-one” benefit for the military community. On one hand, it addresses the ongoing demand for short-term lodging tied to the constant flow in and out of Fort Rucker. On the other, it introduces a lifestyle-focused housing option that remains affordable without cutting corners.
“We’re building a project that’s a two-for-one for the military,” Worley explained. “There is a constant need for short-term lodging, and we’re also creating a lifestyle community with five-star amenities while delivering a home option at an incredibly affordable price.”
That balance — affordability paired with quality — sits at the core of the resort’s mission.
Appealing Beyond the Base
While the resort is designed with military families in mind, its appeal stretches well beyond Fort Rucker. Worley points to a growing migration of retirees moving south, many of whom are seeking lower-maintenance living without giving up access to community and amenities.
“The lifestyle Awful Beautiful Life Resort is creating will also be very inviting to the massive migration of retirees that are moving south in record-breaking numbers,” Worley added.
With its resort-style features and thoughtfully planned layout, the development positions itself as both a practical stopover and a destination in its own right.
From Chart-Topper to Community Builder
Worley’s involvement adds a personal layer to the project. Best known for hits like “I Miss My Friend,” “Have You Forgotten?,” and “Awful Beautiful Life,” the country artist has long blended music with service, including entertaining U.S. troops overseas and participating in philanthropic efforts throughout his career.
