Ricky Skaggs Brings Holiday Cheer Back to the Stage with 2025 Christmas Tour

Fifteen-Time GRAMMY® Winner and Bluegrass Legend Returns with Eight Festive Shows Across the Nation

A Bluegrass Christmas Tradition Returns

The holidays are about to sound a whole lot merrier. Fifteen-time GRAMMY® winner and Country Music Hall of Fame member Ricky Skaggs is hitting the road this December for his highly anticipated “Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder Christmas” tour. Joined by his world-renowned band, Kentucky Thunder, Skaggs will bring his signature blend of bluegrass brilliance and heartfelt holiday spirit to eight cities across the country.

The 2025 Christmas tour kicks off December 4 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, with stops in Owensboro, Steelville, Nashville, Birmingham, Nashville (Indiana), Cincinnati, and Bristol. Each concert promises to be a joyful mix of tradition and musicianship — an unforgettable evening filled with Christmas cheer and the tight harmonies that have made Skaggs a living legend.

“I’d like to invite you all to our Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Christmas Show this December,” Skaggs shared. “You’ll hear some great old Christmas favorites, some newer Christmas songs, and some great instrumentals too. Come on out and see this fun family show. I promise you’ll have a great time.”

Timeless Classics and Pure Kentucky Thunder

Each performance will feature beloved holiday songs like “Christmas Time’s A Comin’,” “New Star Shining,” and “Mary, Did You Know?” alongside joyful sing-alongs including “Joy to the World” and “Silver Bells.” Fans can also expect Kentucky Thunder’s dazzling instrumentals on tunes like “Deck the Halls,” “Ancient Christmas Tones,” and “Icy Vine Grove.”

With his signature mandolin and the band’s virtuosic precision, Skaggs transforms every song into a musical masterpiece. His Christmas shows have become a cherished tradition — one that unites generations through faith, family, and the universal joy of music.

From Bluegrass Roots to Country Royalty

Few artists have shaped the sound of American roots music like Ricky Skaggs. A prodigy who performed with bluegrass icons Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs as a child, Skaggs helped bring bluegrass back to mainstream audiences in the 1980s. His legacy includes 12 #1 singles, 15 GRAMMY® Awards, nine ACM Awards, eight CMA Awards (including Entertainer of the Year), and inductions into multiple halls of fame — from the Country Music Hall of Fame to the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.

Skaggs’ lifelong devotion to his craft is reflected not only in his accolades but also in his enduring creativity. Through Skaggs Family Records, founded in 1997, he has released 12 consecutive GRAMMY®-nominated albums, most recently Hearts Like Ours with his wife and fellow musician Sharon White of The Whites. The Grand Ole Opry member and 2020 National Medal of Arts recipient continues to inspire through both his recordings and live performances.

A Heartfelt Invitation to Celebrate the Season

With more than 60 years of music behind him, Ricky Skaggs still finds new ways to connect with fans. His Christmas tour offers a night where faith, joy, and musical mastery come together — a reminder of what makes this season special.
