Senator Patrick Testin Honored as 2025 Wisconsin Historical Society Legislator of the Year for Historic Education Efforts

Wisconsin Senator Patrick Testin has been honored with the 2025 Wisconsin Historical Society Legislator of the Year award, recognizing his efforts in advocating for history education across the state and supporting the development of the Wisconsin History Center.
Testin, who serves on the influential Joint Finance Committee, has played a pivotal role in ensuring that history education reaches all 72 counties of Wisconsin. His commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s rich heritage has been a driving force in these efforts, making history more accessible to students and residents statewide.
In addition to his work in education, Testin has been a strong advocate for the new Wisconsin History Center, currently under construction on the Capitol Square. This state-of-the-art museum, set to open in 2027, is envisioned as a vibrant community space where visitors can engage with Wisconsin’s diverse histories and cultures. The center will serve as a hub for learning and reflection, offering a place where everyone can connect with the state’s collective past.
“I’m humbled to receive this honor, and it is a testament to the collaborative efforts of so many dedicated individuals,” Testin said upon receiving the award. “Promoting history education and ensuring that our state’s cultural heritage is accessible to all is something I’m passionate about, and I look forward to the continued progress of the Wisconsin History Center.”
The award was presented to Testin by Kate Easton, Director of Government Relations for the Wisconsin Historical Society, who praised the senator’s tireless dedication to preserving Wisconsin’s history and making it relevant to future generations.
As the Wisconsin History Center nears its completion, the project is poised to become a landmark in the state, embodying Testin’s vision of a space that celebrates Wisconsin’s legacy while fostering a sense of community and learning for all.
