Fugitive Brother Extradited from Spain to Indiana to Face Murder Charges in Shocking Sibling Attack

n April 28, 2025, Samuel Steven Huggler, a man facing charges related to the murder and attempted murders of three of his siblings, was successfully extradited from Spain to the United States. Huggler is now in custody in Vanderburgh County, where he will stand trial for multiple criminal offenses, including Aiding, Inducing, or Causing Murder, three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, two counts of Aiding, Inducing, or Causing Attempted Murder, and Possession of an Altered Firearm.
The charges stem from a violent incident that occurred in 2021, when Huggler allegedly orchestrated a deadly shooting on Kirkwood Drive in Evansville, resulting in the death of one sibling and injuries to two others. After the attack, Huggler fled the country and made his way to Europe. According to reports from Evansville’s 14News, Huggler was arrested in the sovereign landlocked country of Andorra in January 2024. He was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail upon his return on April 28. His co-defendant, Daniel Alvey, was arrested and sentenced to 45 years in prison for murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
Huggler’s extradition marks a significant accomplishment in the case, and Prosecutor Diana Moers expressed gratitude for the collective efforts of the agencies involved. “It was an honor to work with these agencies across the world to seek justice,” Moers stated, acknowledging the pivotal role played by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, the U.S. Department of State, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Marshals Service, the Spanish National Police, and other law enforcement bodies, including the Evansville Police Department and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
Following his return to the United States, Huggler appeared in court on April 29, 2025, where he was granted two weeks to hire legal counsel. As the case moves forward, all eyes will be on the legal proceedings to ensure justice is served for the victims of this heinous crime.
The successful extradition serves as a reminder of the power of international cooperation in the pursuit of justice, with law enforcement agencies from around the world coming together to ensure that those who flee to evade justice are held accountable for their actions.
