Rasmussen Poll: 52% Back Guard Deployment to Defend ICE

A new Rasmussen Reports national survey reveals that a majority of likely U.S. voters side with former President Donald Trump on his proposal to deploy National Guard troops to protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, despite a federal judge’s ruling prohibiting the move.
According to the poll, conducted October 7–9, 2025, 52% of respondents support the idea, including 39% who strongly support it. Forty-three percent oppose the deployment, with 33% strongly opposed. The results highlight an ongoing divide in public opinion over immigration enforcement and executive authority.
The survey also explored reactions to comments made by former White House adviser Stephen Miller, who said that district court judges have engaged in “an ongoing legal insurrection.” Fifty-six percent of voters agreed with Miller’s assessment, including 38% who strongly agreed, while 31% disagreed and 13% were unsure.
Support for Trump’s broader immigration policies remains similarly split. Fifty-three percent of voters approve of his administration’s program to locate and deport individuals in the country illegally, while 43% disapprove. The partisan divide is stark: 86% of Republicans support the deportation initiative compared to 28% of Democrats and 46% of independent voters.
Rasmussen’s findings also show notable demographic differences, with men more supportive than women, and Hispanic and “other minority” voters showing higher approval rates for the deportation policy than Black voters.
The national poll surveyed 1,184 likely voters with a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
