Study Finds Gen Z Workers Crave the Office to Combat Loneliness

A new study reveals that four in ten Gen Z employees want to return to the office, citing loneliness as a key reason. Many in this age group began their careers during the Covid pandemic and have never experienced a traditional in-office role, leaving them feeling isolated in remote settings. Research from Bupa found that 38% of 16- to 24-year-olds report loneliness at work, compared with 24% of workers overall. Experts warn that while flexible work arrangements offer freedom, younger employees need social interaction, mentorship, and stronger mental health support. Without it, many are seeking jobs with physical office environments and benefits like private healthcare to improve their well-being.
