Walker: Georgia’s Farmers Keep the State Growing Strong

Celebrating Georgia’s Farmers
As autumn paints Georgia’s landscape with cotton, peanuts, and pecans, Senator Larry Walker III reminds residents that agriculture remains the backbone of the state’s economy and heritage. From Clinch County to Murray County, agriculture feeds families, fuels industries, and strengthens communities. The Georgia National Fair in Perry and the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie offer opportunities to celebrate and connect with the farmers who make it all possible.
Protecting the Industry that Feeds Us
Walker highlighted his support for Senate Bill 144, a measure ensuring that agricultural suppliers aren’t targeted by unnecessary lawsuits. The bill confirms that if products such as fertilizers or pesticides meet federal safety standards, companies won’t face additional liability for not exceeding EPA labeling requirements. He called the law “a common-sense protection” for farmers and suppliers alike—one that keeps costs down and ensures access to critical tools for Georgia agriculture.
Investing in the Future of Farming
Through the Fiscal Year 2026 state budget, Georgia continues to invest in the next generation of agricultural leaders. The budget allocates $7.3 million for new vocational and ag-education equipment and over $50 million in capital projects to modernize state labs and facilities. Additional funding supports the Georgia-grown wood pilot program, helping local foresters expand into new markets at home and abroad.
Faith, Family, and Freedom
Walker emphasized that agriculture embodies Georgia’s enduring values — hard work, neighborly support, and stewardship of the land. “If our farmers can’t produce affordably and reliably, we all lose,” he said. This October, as fairs and expos celebrate the season’s bounty, Georgia stands tall — united behind the farmers who keep the state growing strong.
