Seconds Could Save a Life: Kristin Marcell’s Fight to Protect Kids with Food Allergies Passes the House

The Pennsylvania House has overwhelmingly passed House Bill 928, a bipartisan measure co-sponsored by Rep. Kristin Marcell, aimed at equipping daycare facilities with critical training and life-saving medication to manage food allergies. Known as Elijah’s Law, the bill would allow childcare providers to obtain prescriptions for epinephrine devices and receive proper instruction to respond swiftly in emergencies. “For me, this is personal,” Marcell shared. “As a mom of a child with food allergies, I understand the fear parents feel. This bill ensures that when seconds count, our caregivers are ready.” The legislation now heads to the Senate, joining a growing list of states working to protect children with severe allergies.
