Patriotism Plummets: Just 36% of Democrats Say They’re Proud to Be American

A new Gallup poll reveals a sharp drop in national pride among Americans, with deepening divides along party and generational lines. Just 36% of Democrats say they’re “extremely” or “very” proud to be American—compared to significantly higher numbers among Republicans. Younger Americans, especially Gen Z, also report lower levels of patriotism than older generations. The findings come as the country marked the Army’s 250th anniversary and former President Trump’s 79th birthday with a military parade in Washington, underscoring how national pride continues to mean very different things to different Americans.
