Midnight Rescue in Ross Township
Crews responded around midnight on Ross-Hanover Road in the Millville area, where heavy rainfall had caused rapid flooding. Officials say the area is known to flood during significant storms.
Using an inflatable rescue boat, firefighters safely evacuated an adult, a teenager and four pets — three cats and a Chihuahua — from the home.
Waiting for Help as Waters Rose
According to Ross Township Fire Chief John Ross, the flooding began in the family’s basement before quickly spreading.
By the time rescue crews arrived, the family had moved outside and was waiting on their front porch for help.
Firefighters quickly loaded the group and their pets into the inflatable boat and transported them to safety. No injuries were reported.
“Pure Chaos,” Officials Say
Emergency responders described the situation as chaotic as crews worked throughout the night responding to rising water levels in the community.
In addition to rescuing the family, firefighters assisted other residents by pumping water out of flooded basements in nearby homes.
Despite the dangerous conditions, officials said everyone involved remained safe.
Flooding Risks Remain
Local officials say flooding in the Ross Township area is not uncommon during heavy rainfall events.
Emergency crews continue to monitor conditions and encourage residents in flood-prone areas to remain alert during storms and move to higher ground if water levels begin to rise.
