Kentucky Senate Stands Ready to Approve Tornado Recovery Funds

In response to last month’s devastating tornadoes in London and Somerset, Kentucky Senate leaders say they are ready to reconvene for a special session as soon as Governor Andy Beshear requests additional recovery funds. Senator Robby Mills noted that while the governor currently has access to some disaster response money, he must show lawmakers why more is needed and how it will be spent. Senate President Robert Stivers emphasized the legislature’s ability to move quickly if called upon, saying they could deliver funding within days. Recovery costs are expected to climb into the hundreds of millions.
