Wedding Goes to the Dogs — And the Internet Loves It

Dogs Who Brought Them Together Steal the Show on Their Wedding Day

When Elizabeth Lutz and Zack Villarreal said “I do” last November, their wedding wasn’t just a celebration of their love — it was a tribute to the dogs who helped bring them together in the first place.

Five years earlier, Lutz was walking her dogs, Zero and Bisky, around her apartment complex when they crossed paths with Villarreal and his dachshund, Charlie. The dogs immediately bonded, tangling leashes and forcing their humans into conversation — a moment Lutz later compared to 101 Dalmatians. From then on, the dogs seemed determined to keep their parents running into each other, and casual chats slowly turned into something more.

Love Deepened Through Loss
As their relationship grew, so did their bond over caring for animals. When Zero was diagnosed with kidney failure, Villarreal stepped in without hesitation, helping with treatments and feedings. His devotion during that difficult time cemented their connection. Though Zero later passed away, the dogs’ legacy lived on — Charlie and Bisky became inseparable, sharing daily kisses even years later.

A Wedding Built Around Family — Four-Legged Included
When Lutz and Villarreal married, their dogs weren’t just guests — they were central to the ceremony. Charlie carried the rings in a bow-tie box, while Bisky wore a floral necklace. The couple even posed with their pups in backpacks over their wedding attire and held signs reading, “We said I do” and “We do too.”

Honoring the Ones Who Started It All
To honor Zero and Piper, two dogs who had passed, Lutz surprised Villarreal with charms containing their ashes, attached to her bouquet and his boutonniere. The dogs also “signed” the marriage certificate with their paw prints — a lasting reminder that their love story was built with paws, patience, and unconditional devotion.

“They aren’t just pets,” Lutz said. “They’re our family.”
