Cracker Barrel Backtracks: Classic Logo Restored After Backlash

Cracker Barrel is scrapping its short-lived rebrand and restoring its classic “Old Timer” logo after swift backlash and a stock slide of nearly $100 million in market value. Less than a week after unveiling a text-only mark meant to reflect “the diversity of all our guests,” the Tennessee-based chain said it heard from customers and would keep the original design featuring the seated old-timer and barrel. The reversal followed criticism from patrons and some conservative commentators and a public nudge from President Trump, who urged the company Tuesday to admit the misstep and return to the longtime logo. Cracker Barrel operates more than 650 restaurants across 44 states.
