Buttigieg Backs Trump’s IVF Coverage Promise as ‘Good Policy’ for Families

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says Democrats should consider adopting one of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign promises—expanding insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. Speaking on Pod Save America, Buttigieg called the proposal “good policy” and a true pro-family measure, noting that cost and access barriers should not prevent people from starting families. While some critics point to a Washington Post report claiming Trump has yet to fulfill the pledge, the White House says work is underway, citing a February executive order aimed at lowering out-of-pocket costs for IVF and other fertility treatments.
