Bad Beach Behavior: Survey Reveals What Annoys Sunbathers Most

Annoyed by loud music, sand showers, or the smell of smoke when you’re trying to enjoy a beach day? You’re not alone. A new survey from Beach.com asked over 1,000 U.S. beachgoers to fess up to their worst etiquette breaches, and the results are as cringe-worthy as they are relatable. Topping the list: more than 70% admitted to peeing in the water, nearly half said they sip alcohol on the sand, and about a third confessed to pocketing seashells. Other common faux pas include blasting music, taking too long in beach facilities, leaving trash behind, and even sitting too close to strangers. But when it comes to what annoys people most, littering left everything else in the dust—more than 80% said it’s the biggest beach-day dealbreaker.
