Lynn Evans Exits Iowa’s 4th District Race, Will Seek Reelection to State Senate

Republican State Sen. Lynn Evans is stepping back from his short-lived congressional bid in Iowa’s 4th District, announcing this week that he’ll instead seek reelection to the Iowa Senate in 2026. Evans, who chairs the Senate Education Committee, said his “passion remains” with the work in Des Moines. His decision comes just as Iowa House Majority Leader Matt Windschitl and Siouxland Chamber President Chris McGowan enter the race for what’s expected to be an open congressional seat, with Rep. Randy Feenstra eyeing a run for governor. Iowa’s 4th remains the most conservative of the state’s four districts.
