Record-Breaking 37,997 Valentine’s Cards Sent to Texas State Veterans Homes Through VLB’s Valentines for Vets Program

Texas Land Commissioner and Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced the success of the VLB’s Valentines for Vets program for Valentine’s Day 2025, with a record-breaking 37,997 Valentine’s Day cards sent to the state’s 10 Veterans Homes.

“This program reminds our Veterans that they are appreciated and loved,” said Commissioner Buckingham. “This year, we received nearly 38,000 cards—more than double last year’s total—and have now received over 60,000 since 2021.”

The Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home in Tyler received 13,375 cards, and the Tuskegee Airman Texas State Veterans Home in Fort Worth received 300 cards, despite not yet housing residents. Buckingham encouraged Texans to continue showing gratitude for veterans both on Valentine’s Day and year-round.
