Activist Investor Predicts Costco Could Abandon DEI by Year’s End Despite Shareholder Vote

Although Costco shareholders overwhelmingly rejected a proposal challenging the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, activist investor Ethan Peck of the National Center for Public Policy Research remains confident that Costco may eventually drop its DEI initiatives. Peck suggests that setbacks like these are typical in the shareholder proposal process, and he believes the company could follow the trend of other corporations reevaluating their DEI commitments.
