Indiana State Fair Celebrates Major Attendance Milestone, Plans for Future Growth

Record-Breaking Attendance Marks a Successful Year

The State Fair Advisory Committee convened at the Statehouse to receive updates from the State Fair Commission and reflect on a standout year for the Indiana State Fair. According to committee chair Beau Baird, the 2025 fair drew 854,977 attendees — the highest turnout since before the COVID-19 pandemic. This renewed enthusiasm underscores the fair’s enduring role as one of the state’s most cherished annual events.

Discount admission days and free stage concerts once again proved to be major attractions, helping drive strong attendance and making the fair accessible to families, students, and visitors across the state.

“The Indiana State Fair continues to be a proud celebration of everything that makes our state exceptional,” said Baird. “From world-class livestock and agriculture to great food, community, and Hoosier tradition, it’s a special event for everyone to enjoy.”

Enhancements and Upgrades on the Horizon

During the meeting, the Indiana State Fair Commission shared its ongoing master plan vision. Key updates included technology and infrastructure upgrades designed to improve the overall visitor experience and maintain the fair’s status as a premier destination for entertainment, agriculture, and community celebration.

Planned improvements include:

  • Technology enhancements and updated equipment
  • Upgrades to the Champions Pavilion
  • Roof replacement for the Grand Hall
  • Continued updates to entrance gates and roadways to streamline entry and exit

These investments reflect a long-term commitment to maintaining and improving fairgrounds facilities so they can better serve both annual fairgoers and year-round events.

Honoring a Legacy of Leadership

A major transition lies ahead for the fair’s leadership team. Cindy Hoye, executive director of the State Fair Commission, announced she will step down in 2026 after serving in the role since 2004 and working with the organization for nearly 40 years.

“For nearly four decades, Cindy Hoye has been the heart of the Indiana State Fair,” said Baird. “Her leadership, vision, and dedication have shaped the fair into one of the state’s premier events. Her impact will be felt by generations to come. I congratulate her on a successful career and thank her for her years of service.”

Hoye’s leadership has guided the fair through periods of modernization, record attendance, and innovative programming. Her upcoming retirement marks the end of an era for the organization, and planning for this transition will be a major focus in the years to come.

Looking Ahead to 2026

With momentum building from a strong 2025 season and major improvements underway, the Indiana State Fair is already preparing for next summer. The 2026 fair will run from August 7 through August 23, promising familiar traditions alongside new experiences powered by the infrastructure and technology upgrades in progress.
