Dairy Myths Debunked: What Your Body Really Needs to Thrive

At Think American News, we’re committed to sharing insights that cut through industry myths and empower readers to make informed choices for their health and well-being. This week’s Friday Fuel comes from Rosemary Bonner, CEO of RB Coaching, who challenges one of the biggest food myths of our time: that your body needs cow’s milk to thrive.
For decades, we’ve been sold the idea that cow’s milk is essential for strong bones, healthy growth, and overall vitality. But here’s the harsh reality: your body does not need cow’s milk or any dairy products to thrive. In fact, after the age of 35, dairy can do more harm than good. It’s time to strip away the marketing lies and understand what your body truly needs.
The Truth is Simple:
Dairy serves no necessary purpose in human nutrition. The nutrients found in milk—like calcium, protein, and vitamin D—can be obtained from countless plant-based sources without the side effects that dairy brings. Your body is not biologically designed to require milk from another species. Think about it—no other mammal continues to consume milk after infancy, and certainly not milk from a completely different animal.
So why do so many adults struggle when consuming dairy? One word: digestion. After childhood, the majority of humans begin to lose the enzyme lactase, which is responsible for breaking down lactose, the sugar in milk. This is why bloating, cramping, gas, and diarrhea become common side effects of dairy consumption, especially as we age. For many, these symptoms intensify after the age of 35 as digestion naturally slows and enzyme production decreases.
Beyond digestive discomfort, dairy may also contribute to inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a silent disruptor that can show up as joint pain, skin breakouts, sinus issues, or even fatigue. For women, dairy can throw hormones off balance, leading to irregular cycles, mood swings, and stubborn weight gain. Add in the fact that many dairy products today are loaded with added hormones, antibiotics, and processed sugars, and you begin to see how this “health food” is more of a burden than a benefit.
Another overlooked consequence is bone health. The dairy industry has long preached that milk is critical for preventing osteoporosis. Yet, research has shown that countries with the highest dairy intake actually have some of the highest rates of osteoporosis. The reason? Excessive dairy consumption may leach calcium from the bones due to its acidic nature, doing the exact opposite of what it claims to protect.
At RB Coaching, we believe in empowering men and women to understand their bodies—not through fads or industry-funded campaigns, but through truth and awareness. When you start paying attention to how your body responds to different foods, you begin to uncover what truly fuels you and what weighs you down. Many of my clients are shocked when they remove dairy and suddenly experience clearer skin, less bloating, improved digestion, and more energy.
Your body does NOT need cow’s milk. It never did. What it needs is balance, nourishment, and respect for the way it was designed. By learning to listen to your body, you can make choices that align with your health and longevity instead of clinging to outdated myths.
At RB Coaching, we guide you step by step in discovering these truths for yourself—because once you learn your body, you’ll never settle for anything less than feeling your absolute best.
