Trey Calloway Drops Rowdy New Anthem “Must Have Had A Good Time”

Award-winning singer-songwriter Trey Calloway is turning up the volume this summer with the release of his brand-new single, “Must Have Had A Good Time,” out today.

Written by Anthony Smith (Clay Walker, Jo Dee Messina), Frank Meyers (Lonestar, Vince Gill), and country superstar Chris Young, the track debuted on Nashville.com and is already making waves with fans and critics alike. With its gritty guitars, high-energy beat, and Calloway’s unmistakable vocals, the single captures the blur of a night out that’s equal parts wild, fun, and unforgettable — even if the details are hazy the next morning.

“It is a country rocking party song about going out on the town and waking up the next morning trying to reconstruct what happened the night before,” Calloway shared. “It’s a light-hearted, feel-good party anthem that I think most everyone can relate to. Many thanks to writers Anthony Smith, Chris Young, and Frank Myers for this banger!”

Early reviews are calling the single a hit in the making. Grammy-winning producer Tré Corley praised Calloway’s “gritty, soulful tone that makes you believe every word,” while Nashville Music Now called it “a rowdy, country anthem that captures the blurry, half-remembered magic of a night gone wild with friends.” Bill Miller of The Rosie & Bill Show added that the song is guaranteed to get listeners moving, while Think Country’s Patti McClintic declared it a “country rockin’ superjam” destined for the charts.

For Calloway, “Must Have Had A Good Time” adds to a growing catalog of fan favorites, including “Your Love Is Safe With Me,” “That Was Us,” and “Forgotten Man.” His music has racked up millions of streams, spotlight features in outlets like Whiskey Riff, American Songwriter, Center Stage Magazine, Cowboys & Indians, and RFD-TV, and recognition at the Texas Country Music Awards, where he was named Songwriter of the Year in 2023. His previous single, “She Don’t Break It,” showcased his versatility with a heartfelt story of healing after heartbreak, premiered by Whiskey Riff.

The North Carolina native, now based in Nashville, grew up steeped in gospel music before falling in love with the storytelling spirit of ’90s country. His live performance résumé includes opening slots for Joe Diffie, Tracy Lawrence, McBride & The Ride, Pat Green, Edwin McCain, and Craig Campbell, as well as appearances at iconic venues such as Billy Bob’s Texas, the House of Blues, and the Charlotte Speed Street NASCAR Festival.

With his mix of modern country hooks, rock edge, and timeless storytelling, Calloway has carved a lane all his own. And with “Must Have Had A Good Time,” he’s delivering exactly what fans crave — a rollicking anthem built for summer nights, wild memories, and the kind of mornings-after that make you laugh and say, “we must have had a good time.”
